CIRCLE OF MINISTRY PLAN

Mebane United Methodist has recently begun using the Circles of Ministry created here several years ago.  Not to be confused with circles or groups that are a part of the United Methodist Women, these newly activated circles are a way of organizing us for mission and ministry.  Different ministries and programs of the church fall under each of the main circles.  These circles will meet at least four times annually to evaluate the ministries that fall under each of them, to co-ordinate ministries within each circle, and to create new ministries and programs to meet the needs of our congregation and community.  Leaders of each circle will report monthly at our ministry Resource Council meetings.  The following listing provides a brief description of each circle and lists its leadership:

Communications Circle is facilitated by Deb Grener and includes the historians, Tech Committee, church publications and bulletin boards, the Christian Advocate, etc.

Nurture Circle is facilitated by Kristine Rapp and consists of representatives of the caring ministries of our church like the prayer chain, tape ministry, disaster preparedness, scholarship committee, Single/Single Again, hospitality, etc.

Outreach Circle is made up of those ministries that give attention to the local and larger community in the areas of compassion, justice, and advocacy and is facilitated by Ted Zeller.  Missions, Prison Ministry, Scouts, Meals on Wheels, Hispanic Ministry and the $10 Club all fall under this circle.

Spiritual Formation Circle (formerly called Discipleship) is facilitated by Pam Saunders.  It is made up of representatives from the Sunday school (teachers and Superintendent), age-level ministries (like children, youth, young adult, older adult, etc.), evangelism, small group studies, and the library.

Worship Circle is led by Susie Sanford and includes representatives of the Altar Guild and flowers, acolytes, greeters, head ushers and the Music Committee.
